The nonprofit Breastcancer.org estimates that about 40,920 women in the U.S will die from breast cancer in 2018.

These 40,920 women come from all walks of life, playing all the roles within a family:

- Daughter

- Sister

- Spouse

- Mother

And with each of these 40,920 deaths someone loses a

- Daughter

- Sister

- Spouse

- Mother

Somewhere in the U.S. there is a child wishing that they could dance with Mom again.

October is breast cancer awareness month, it is more than a time to put on pink and take a walk. It is a time to take action about our health and the health of the people that we love.

In 2018, an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.

About 2,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2018. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000.

As we age we are at a greater risk of developing breast cancer so it is important to know the symptoms which includes:

- Swelling of all or part of a breast (even if no distinct lump is felt)

- Skin irritation or dimpling (sometimes looking like an orange peel)

- Breast or nipple pain.

- Nipple retraction (turning inward)

- Redness, scaliness, or thickening of the nipple or breast skin.

This month and every month let us continue our concern, let us continue our

awareness, let us continue our prayers.

- Let us pray for the: 1 in 8 U.S. women who will develop breast cancer in their lifetimes

- Let us pray for the: 266,120 new cases of breast cancer discovered this year

- Let us pray for the: 40,920 U.S. women who will die from breast cancer this year

And let us pray for all the children who wish that they could dance with their Mothers again.
